ACS Clinical Congress 2024: Showcasing Next-Gen Surgical Innovation
Next-Gen Surgical Innovation at ACS Clinical Congress 2024
We were honored to be part of ACS Clinical Congress 2024 in San Francisco, CA—an extraordinary gathering of more than 11,000 surgical professionals from around the world, all focused on shaping the future of surgery. From breakthrough technologies to hands-on learning and critical discussions, the event reinforced our shared commitment to surgical excellence and patient care.
Revolutionizing Minimally Invasive Surgery: Introducing the GT Metabolic MagDI™ System
A key highlight of our presence this year was the introduction of the GT Metabolic MagDI™ System—a transformative solution for metabolic and bariatric surgery. This system offers a minimally invasive alternative to traditional stapling and suturing through the use of magnetic compression anastomosis.
How it works: Two linear magnets are inserted laparoscopically and align automatically through the small bowel. Over several weeks, the magnets gently compress the tissue to form a secure, natural connection. Once the anastomosis is complete, the magnets safely detach and pass through the body—no cutting, no sutures, no permanent implants.
Clinical results: With over 100 trial cases completed globally, the MagDI™ System has demonstrated exceptional safety—zero bleeds and zero leaks. This marks a significant advancement in both surgical technique and patient recovery.
GT Metabolic is now collaborating with select providers to bring this technology to patients in need of safer, more effective options for metabolic procedures.
Precision Without Compromise: Non-Magnetic Laparoscopic Forceps
We also showcased our newest non-magnetic laparoscopic forceps, designed to enhance surgical precision and safety in magnet-sensitive environments. By eliminating magnetic interference, these instruments give surgeons greater control and consistency—especially critical during complex procedures where multiple energy devices or robotic platforms are in use.
A Standout Year for Surgical Advancement
This year’s Clinical Congress was a milestone moment for the surgical community. Nearly 1,900 new Fellows from 74 countries were initiated into ACS, and attendees participated in a dynamic range of educational sessions, technical demonstrations, and award presentations.
Notable highlights included updates on artificial intelligence in surgery, innovations in trauma care, and powerful keynote lectures addressing equity, surgical professionalism, and future-focused policy.
We were proud to exhibit alongside leaders in the field and deeply encouraged by the enthusiastic response to our latest technologies.
Looking Ahead to ACS Clinical Congress 2025
We’re energized by the momentum from San Francisco and already looking forward to ACS 2025 in Chicago. Our focus remains on developing surgical solutions that empower clinicians, improve patient outcomes, and push the boundaries of what’s possible in the OR.
